With the PlayStation Vita so close to its release date that you can smell the fresh plastic already, Sony has decided to share with us some amazing news: we will be allowed to download many of our PSP games that we’ve already purchased on our PS Vitas at no extra cost!
The amazing news comes after a bit sadder announcement that North America won’t get UMD support for the PlayStation Vita – but at least a ton of games can be imported and played on the new handheld. The list of titles (over 150 titles if we DON’T count the Minis) can be found over on the official PlayStation Blog.
But I am sure you are curious to find out how to get the PSP Games on your PS Vita and therefore I’m sharing with you the way to download the game (for free if you already have it on the PSP!)
1. Go to the PlayStation Store on your PS Vita and purchase any PSP game from the list then download it to the handheld via WiFi. If you already have a game purchased that can be moved to the PS Vita, redownload it from the Downloads List.
2. If you’ve already got one of these games sitting on your PS3 XMB (or have purchased from the PS3’s PlayStation Store), you can connect your PS Vita to the PS3 via the included USB cable, and transfer the game via PS Vita’s on-board Content Manager.
And the great news don’t stop here! Sony announced that even more PSP games will be made available for the PS Vita in the coming weeks, so we’ll definitely have a ton of classic games to play alongside the new gen entries.
